George Stubbs (1724-1806) was an English painter best known for his paintings of horses. As an autodidact, Stubbs learned his skills independently from other great artists of the 18th century such as Reynolds or Gainsborough. Stubbs' edition includes historical paintings, but his greatest skill was painting animals, possibly influenced by his love and study of anatomy. His work Lord Grosvenor's Arabian Stallion with a Groom was written in 1765.
