The Scream is the popular name of a composition created in 1893 by the Norwegian expressionist artist Edvard Munch. The original German title Munch gave his work was Der Schrei der Natur, and the Norwegian title is Skrik (Schrei)). The painful face of the painting has become one of the most iconic art images, seen as a symbol of fear of the human condition.
